Sprout Social has been the only platform consistently able to scale and grow with the social industry. I appreciate that feedback is taken seriously when we bring it up. Contact with the support team is constant. And there's groups and like-industry folks we can connect with as well.

We have used Sprout Social for the life of our organization. We specifically use it for measuring our analytics, creating custom reports for various stakeholders, managing replies to comments and messages etc., and scheduling posts across platforms.

Pros

  • The Smart inbox is helpful for aggregating all of our social engagement to one place for us to track replies
  • We love the custom reports for tracking specific campaign metrics
  • The certifications and trainings are also great for continued learning

Cons

  • The nonprofit rate should be lower

Sprout Social is essentially my partner for social media, supporting my role and creating efficiencies in scheduling, reporting, and social listening. I use it daily to keep a pulse on scheduling and community management (via the Social Inbox). Reporting is also used throughout each week to understand how content is performing. These insights at my fingertips have elevated my performance as an organic social media manager, and also have cut my monthly reporting time by 50%.

Pros

  • Social Inbox is so helpful as a social media manager who wears all the hats. It's helpful to have all messages and comments in one place and a visual checklist to clear them as they are addressed.
  • Reporting is great and detailed, and the option to pull insights at the profile, post, and tag/campaign levels is very helpful when planning future content.

Cons

  • Scheduling seems to improve with the platforms increasing their own native capabilities. However, it would be nice to see analytics come through on links that are posted as the first comment, or at least comment engagement or something for Facebook when that approach is used vs. placing the link in the body.
  • More customization in the reporting, so we can toggle between multiple layers of data and get more granular, would be the bee's knees as a lean team with very curious stakeholders/supervisors.

Sprout Social is a great tool with a strong onboarding process. It helps streamline a lot of tasks as a social media platform and has a lot of capabilities, especially with reporting (tags/campaigns, profile-level & posts), social listening, and community management via the social inbox. Its pricing can be high, especially for small organizations/nonprofits.

We use it primarily for social media management, content distribution, calendar management, and cross-team planning. We use it across multiple products and product groups, spanning more than 60 products, and it is managed by a team of around 7 social media and community managers. Sprout Social allows us to manage and schedule content distribution effortlessly, without having to search for or remember multiple platform login credentials.

Cons

  • Integration (would like to see more platforms like Discord implemented).
  • Adding and removing accounts can be finnicky.
  • Some areas need more onboarding and training than others, and can be quite hard to navigate at times.

Likelihood to Recommend

Using Sprout Social's integrated analytics tools has helped us identify the best content to create for each platform, what engages and resonates with our audience, the best times to post, and the best platforms to focus our efforts on. Live/active community management, however, the platform isn't quite so suited for.

I use Sprout Social for monitoring social media specifically when doing very large events of several hundred people. We want to make sure we're engaged with attendees, speakers, etc. during these events and it's hard to manage everything on multiple platforms if we aren't following every single individual. Sprout Social allows us to monitor what's being said, stay engaged with people, communicate important info during the event, and do it on multiple platforms all at once.

Pros

  • Direct integration with ChatGPT is incredibly convenient
  • Direct integration with Salesforce is great for our team because that's our main CRM. We can collect engagement information and store it for retargeting after the event.
  • Sprout Social has so many features. It's possible to get pretty much anything you need. If you can dream it, Sprout Social probably offers it in their platform.

Cons

  • Sprout Social can get expensive, quickly. Most of their best features are behind paywalls and you can get locked into multi-year contracts that won't let you shift for your needs.
  • The mobile app is pretty awful. You have to use the desktop version in order for everything to work reliably.
  • Sometimes data reporting can get too complicated for the system so it just won't include some data in reports. Most issues can be solved, but if you're really relying on Sprout Social for complicated data analytics, it's probably a huge downside.

Likelihood to Recommend

I love Sprout Social specifically for our large events. They're limited-time events, they allow us to do a lot at once and pull in the data we learn to our regular systems, and the ChatGPT integration lets us create content quickly and easily on the fly. However, I would not use this for your everyday social platform. There are simpler platforms. In my experience, Sprout Social seems needlessly complicated for most businesses and is certainly not cost-effective for most businesses. Unless you have a huge budget for social and/or it's truly your bread and butter for marketing strategy, I think Sprout Social is best suited for special events.

Sprout Social is more than a scheduling tool for us. We build out campaign calendars, tag posts, and coordinate content across multiple platforms. We review engagement from multiple audiences that helps us plan for and adjust our messaging. We are able to monitor our mentions and quickly engage with our partners. This strengthens our partnerships overall.

  • Social listening is huge - it helps us understand what is happening in our field

  • Sprout Social has room for improvement with its pricing - unfortunately it's very expensive

Sprout Social is well suited for social media teams of any size (if they can afford it). They offer so many different ways to learn the software and their support is amazing. It's less appropriate for small nonprofit teams because there are other tools out there that can get the job done for much less money.

We use Sprout Social for social media scheduling for our clients a lot and also we use its most powerful feature that is social media listening as that’s the major chunk of the feature which makes a business make or break in my opinion. Sprout Social is also used a lot for other smaller features
