This has been appreciated by several reviewers who highlighted the app's capability to handle payroll, timekeeping, performance evaluations, and Form I9 tracking, contributing to increased efficiency in HR processes. Streamlined management: The consolidation of all HR functions into one system has been praised by users as it makes it easier to manage company setup and reporting. Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PeopleGuru for managing our employees HR information, timekeeping, and payroll. It is hard to find a system that fits any business perfectly, but they have been very good at working with us to address any system issues. We have automated our necessary forms, recruitment, onboarding, HR data management, timekeeping, payroll, & tax filing.

Pros

  • Support great at pushing possible changes through development
  • Ad Hoc Report writing

Cons

  • Position change future dating
  • Timecard reporting including approval (multiple reports to show timecard with approval)
  • W2 Reconciliation Reports (had to calculate wages to verify accuracy)
  • Benefit Plan effective dating & how it affects the deduction effective dating (results in payroll errors if not careful)

Likelihood to Recommend

PeopleGuru has improved their software significantly over the past 2 years, and much of this has to do with their support stepping up where the software is lacking. Because many of these changes resulted from issues that we had with the system, it is difficult to recommend when there is still room to improve. The workflows confuse supervisors when a form needs approved because they can click a poorly named "Approve" button that allows you to skip over signing the PDF. Future dated position changes do not work even though they claim to have this capability. The benefit plan & deduction effective dates are hard linked by a defined number of days, and this causes the deduction to begin or end to soon if the Payroll Coordinator doesn't catch the error. That being said, no software is perfect, and they have been responsive to suggested improvements.

PeopleGuru for California

Rating: 5 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am the super user for my company.

We use PeopleGuru as our company's HRIS system to utilize for employee personal data, process payroll and benefits and corresponding documents associated with those data points.

Pros

  • layout is easy to use

Cons

  • user experience could be better-extra/unnecessary clicks to get around
  • timekeeping system not ideal for California clients
  • sometimes the wait for ticket resolution is longer than I'd like

Likelihood to Recommend

-When I have a filter open and have to look up employees, I have to keep opening the filter. The filter doesn't stay open when it's in use, resulting in extra clicks and page loads. -have to utilize workarounds to get California specific labor law compliance -this was one of the few company's that would take on cannabis clients. I feel a bit stuck that I can't utilize a service provider that caters more to California specific clients in both labor law and time zone.

Great cannabis-friendly payroll system

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

PeopleGuru is a great payroll solution that services the cannabis industry. It allows employees to see their timesheets in real-time and is very easy to use once you've learned it. There are additional HRIS features that can be used, but we are not using them at this time due to the small size of our company. The onboarding and support staff are extremely kind and always helpful. I will say that the user interface is outdated and difficult to navigate without the initial onboarding instruction. Still, your onboarding professional will be with you through the first couple of payroll runs.

Pros

  • Visibility
  • Compliance
  • Recordkeeping
  • Reporting

Cons

  • Design/user interface

Likelihood to Recommend

I'd say PeopleGuru is well suited for most businesses -- a more significant (200+ employees) company may want to use something with a sleeker design. This provider is willing to work with cannabis businesses, which is unusual for payroll providers now.

PeopleGuru Payroll functions are superior!

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a rapidly growing consumer goods company that utilizes PeopleGuru for payroll, employee database, timekeeping, attendance tracking, performance evaluations, recruiting, onboarding, and salary budgeting. Our previous provider was extremely difficult to work with and since coming over to PeopleGuru, the efficiency and capabilities of the software far surpass our expectations. The payroll reporting is extremely robust as well as the Adhoc reporting capacity has been very helpful to the accounting, payroll, and human resource departments.

Pros

  • Payroll
  • Timekeeping
  • Performance Evaluations
  • Form I9 tracking
  • Employee Database

Cons

  • Recruiting module is very clunky and not streamlined. I've worked with recruiting platforms that are more efficient.
  • Job changes are a multi-step process that feels like it could be one screen asking all the necessary info regarding pay rate, date, labor, etc. whereas now you have to go through multiple tabs and screens to change someone's position.
  • Labor mapping seems to be a custom request every time when the pay rate is different for two different jobs. Feels like there is a lot of back-end work that needs to be accomplished before it pulls correctly into labor.
  • Would like to see an app with supervisor/time manager functions. At least to approve punch correction or time-off requests.
  • Advanced scheduling available to certain job roles instead of all or nothing.

Likelihood to Recommend

The payroll module and reporting are top-notch. The different reporting functions as a whole are great! Timekeeping is very easy to use but only when you have a computer/laptop. Definitely wish there was an app for Time Managers to at least approve punch corrections or time-off requests. Adhoc reporting allows custom reports that can be easily shared with other users.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ECVC uses both the payroll and HR enterprise functions of PG. The system helps us maintain employees' payroll and electronic employee records. I also use AdHoc reporting quite a bit to create unique reports.

Pros

  • AdHoc Reports
  • Applicant Tracking System(ATS)
  • Flexibility in Performance Reviews
  • Ability to manage company set-up and reporting
  • Ability to customize standard company forms in PG for usage

Cons

  • Ability to transfer resume data to candidates profiles
  • Ability to list the specific job title on the Transaction Requistions notifications
  • Ability to show other basic applicant registration information in the candidate profile(i.e. desired salary) not visible to the employer
  • Easier ability to get rid of My Office "Transactions Approvals"

Likelihood to Recommend

PG's ability to customize to fit our company, we are unique. Could use some fine-tuning on the Recruitment tool; i.e. ability to transfer resume data to candidate

Honest Opinion of PeopleGuru

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have currently switched over to PeopleGuru from Gusto and When I Work. We made the decision to switch to PeopleGuru due to our company growing and how tedious it was to run payroll as Gusto and When I Work were no longer synching together. There were a few things with Gusto that we were not able to customize to meet our business needs thus causing us more work whenever we ran payroll.

Pros

  • Customization on the back end
  • Support
  • Reporting

Cons

  • There is so much room for customizations that some of the customizations we would like are not implemented especially with the time and attendance.
  • East of Use - it is a bit tedious to have to log into so many different roles to locate certain information or reports. It would be great if there was a master Admin that could do everything under one role
  • Glitchy; The PeopleGuru app is not as well developed as I hoped. There is a lot that cannot be completed through the app and we are required to log into the browser instead.

Likelihood to Recommend

PeopleGuru is definitely well suited to creating an HRIS platform that is geared toward your business needs. There is so much that can be created on the backend of PeopleGuru that customization is endless. Of course, they have not thought of everything but the development team seems to roll out updates quite often.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PeopleGuru to run payroll for approximately 125 employees biweekly. We also use the time and attendance and PTO functions.

Pros

  • They work with the cannabis industry
  • The mobile app saves us from having time clocks or paper timecards

Cons

  • This isn't a top-tier payroll system and it sometimes shows
  • Some of the screens take a long time to process
  • Why do they call direct deposits "net pays"?

Likelihood to Recommend

If you work in cannabis and are limited on your payroll provider selections, this is the best you will find.
