Business Problems Solved

PaySimple is a versatile electronic payment collection tool that businesses rely on for a range of payment processing needs. Users have found value in its e-commerce and payment processing features, enabling them to effortlessly send out recurring invoices and collect payments with minimal customer interaction. This is particularly useful for businesses that require monthly recurring payments from retainer clients, as well as for one-off and yearly invoices. The software's payment portal feature has also been appreciated by users, providing a convenient solution for credit card payments, especially when clients prefer this method. Additionally, PaySimple offers customizable reporting features that allow businesses to track revenue, share employee revenue, and incentivize and provide bonuses - all of which have received positive feedback from users.

However, some users have encountered challenges with PaySimple. There have been instances where the processor abruptly shut down their CPA business and held funds for 180 days without any appeals or review process, which understandably caused frustration. Another concern raised by users is the monthly non-PCI compliance fee, which prompted a shift to an alternative payment software offered by a bank in one case.

Despite these challenges, PaySimple continues to be recommended by users for various use cases. For instance, it is highly recommended for schools looking for an online tuition payment solution that integrates seamlessly with Gradelink. Parents appreciate the convenience of making online payments without having to log into PaySimple separately. ACH payments are preferred by customers for services and subscriptions, as it offers ease of access and reduces administrative work compared to credit card payments. Overall, PaySimple stands as a reliable standalone solution for handling multiple billing needs such as point of sale transactions, recurring billing, and daily debits across a network of businesses.

Alot of Fees out of nowhere

Rating: 3 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used PaySimple to ACH debit customer funds on a daily basis. We were doing close to 1000 per month in debits. After years of slowly raising my fees, I realized I was paying over $3000 more per year from when I started with new fees they came up with. After transferring all of my accounts except 5 to a new processor they just terminated me today. The software is very good but, in my opinion, their slimy tactics and nonesense termination will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Just to give you an idea I went from $800 per month in fees down to $140 per month. I think that is insane.

Pros

  • Software Design
  • Easy to Use

Cons

  • Backdoor Fees
  • In my experience, Nonsense Termination
  • In my experience, Live Support Doesnt Work

Likelihood to Recommend

I would have to say 3 out of 10. But I think that if you do alot of transactions then stay away. In my experience, if you do 100 transactions or less then it doesnt really matter. The easy of the software is nice but, in my experience, all companies have that.

Processor shut my CPA business down and is holding funds for 180 days with no appeals, review or anything. They will not get any chargebacks from us as we carefully vet & get documentation for customers, get them to sign authorization forms, check IDs etc. but they don't care.

Would not recommend.

PaySimple Review

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used PaySimple until recently to invoice customers for our property inspection company. PaySimple charges a monthly non-PCI compliance fee to their users unless an entire laptop with restricted access is used. For most small businesses, having a separate laptop just for creating invoices is simply a waste of money. We now save $125 a month simply by switching to our bank's payment software which is PCI compliant by not allowing us to create invoices while not storing information on our computers. To avoid any more non-compliance fees, we canceled our service. In my experience, they immediately locked us out of our records and now we cannot access our recent invoices to make sure all recent invoices have been paid. By restricting us access to collect payment on our last invoices we lost what could be thousands of dollars.

Pros

  • In my opinion, great at charging excessive fees
  • In my experience, it makes PCI compliance impossible for small business owners
  • I believe it is great at ensuring unhappy clients remain unhappy

Cons

  • In my experience, customer service is rude and takes it personally when a customer is unhappy
  • PCI compliance should be more reasonable for a small business vendor like PaySimple

Likelihood to Recommend

PaySimple has made it next to impossible to become PCI compliant unless we purchased a separate computer for the sole purpose of invoicing. We switched to Chase Bank who does not store sensitive info on our computers allowing us to accept credit cards and still remain PCI compliant. Our money is available much faster by not using the 3rd party. Additionally, a simple company name change required more paperwork than closing the account and setting up a new one even when the same bank account was going to be used. This was the primary reason to shop around. We happily contacted Chase Bank and now save $125 a month and receive access to our funds faster. I cannot believe I stayed with PaySimple as long as I did. It's amazing anyone would jump through the hoops of PCI compliance when the technology exists to keep sensitive information off your small business computers. If this review stops anyone from paying those monthly fees, the time was well worth it! PaySimple, requires business owners to fill out forms that make no sense in laymens terms. Chase Bank fills them all in for you and highlights the areas that need to be signed and initialed. PaySimple, charges excessive fees and in my opinion has very emotional customer service reps. Chase Bank, was eager to help and get things rolling so you can focus on your business. I would never recommend PaySimple.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

PaySimple is used by accounting for payments and sales for deposit links to clients.

Pros

  • Extremely easy to reach a person who can diagnose and solve problems. Rarely more than one hand off.
  • Simple navigation and polished links for clients to use.
  • My DR's are able to produce reports quickly with the software.

Cons

  • More proactive and empowering role in merchant fee's and alternative processors. Transparency is challenging in understanding Paysimple's role and relationship to the processors.
  • Identifying areas for further value to clients.
  • More targeted small to mid-size business perspective to anticipate growth challenges and prevent blocks on funds for legitimate sales and growth.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited to communicate with users and managers.

Well suited to provide technical assistance.

Less able to clarify security measures that negatively impact small businesses while it grows.

And excellent starting place for a new business.

Streamline and Speed Up Recurring Billing

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PaySimple across the whole businesses for electronic payment collection. I initially added it because we needed a simple, automated solution for sending out yearly recurring invoices and collecting payments with minimal customer interaction. We're not using the electronic invoicing feature any more but rely almost entirely on the e-commerce and payment processing features for collecting payments. We set up monthly recurring payments for our retainer clients and use the payment portal feature to collect one-off and yearly invoices.

Pros

  • PaySimple is awesome for recurring payments. It's easy to set one up and make changes as needed. Without this feature, our business would be dead. Being able to easily set up recurring payments for our retainer is a must and PaySimple does it beautifully.
  • The payment portal feature is also really good fro collecting payments of differing amounts. We setup a single portal where customers enter the payment amount accessed from a link in the invoice email. This feature has transformed out collections and cut down our time to get paid significantly.
  • If you do have product type offerings, it's easy to setup individual products or an entire store.

Cons

  • Collecting user entered recurring payment is a little unclear. We had to troubleshoot a bit to get this feature working properly.
  • If you don't want to use a total checkout solution (just want payment buttons), the process to set it up is a bit complicated. You have to create a product then add the payment form. It's not the most intuitive process and took a little trial and error to get it how we wanted.

Likelihood to Recommend

<div>We're a marketing agency and it's worked perfectly for our recurring payment retainers (same amount each month).</div><div>

</div><div>It would also work well for a company with a set product line up or a company that wants a more traditional "store" setup.

PaySimple VS PayPal

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Schools want parents to be able to pay tuition online. I recommend them to get a PaySimple account which has a free integration with Gradelink. This allows parents to log into Gradelink and make online payments from within the app. Parents don't need to log into paysimple.com (or even know the company name) to make a payment.

Pros

  • Really good support and service. It's rare that a payment company answers their phone.
  • Really simple UI. It's so easy to understand and use.
  • Nice free add-ons such as the free booking solution and the free online store option.

Cons

  • It'd be nice if they were to integrate with online form tools such as formstack.com, wufoo.com, jotform.com etc.
  • It'd be nice if there was a payment option which didn't include a monthly fee but had a higher transaction fee. This is good for people who get donations or payments infrequently. For that group, PayPal is the best option because Paypal has no monthly fee but a high transaction fee.

Likelihood to Recommend

Great if you have a high volume of transactions on a regular basis. Even better if all your transactions occur on the same day of the month because you'll save money on the deposit fee (batch fee). Also good if you want a really really simple UI and good support. Not good if you want to link a payment solution to your retail website for an online shopping cart or if you want a massive POS system.

PaySimple - A Simple Way to Accept Pay

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We offer a multitude of services and subscriptions to our client base. Recurring credit card transactions are not always the best payment option for a client as credit cards can expire, get lost, stolen, etc and can require a lot of administrative work to contact the customer to gather new credit card information, recharge the declined transaction, and update all of their information for the different services they are charged for.

<p></p>Using ACH to charge for our services and subscriptions is an option that our customers really appreciate. It is easy for them to access and provide and they do not have to worry about keeping up with it like they would a credit card.

Pros

  • Their Support is very responsive and helpful. Any time that I have had trouble understanding an email I received from Pay Simple or how to update something on an invoice, I have used the chat feature. The agents are quick and provide great step by step instructions to assist. If they did not have a solution, they assured me it would be submitted as a request to development or let me know when it would be coming.
  • I love the ease of initially beginning/charging a payment (either one time or recurring). It is not time-consuming and is very straightforward which is helpful when entering multiple new payments a day. Everything I need to enter a new payment is directly on the home screen and easy to find.
  • I appreciate the clean layout of the homepage.

Cons

  • The customer management user interface beyond the initial transaction is not the most user-friendly. It is difficult to navigate a change like updating a bank account to a recurring transaction.
  • Additionally, there is currently not a way to merge contacts - so, if you have one client with multiple services that you are charging for, it creates them as a new contact for each one.

Likelihood to Recommend

Pay Simple is great for any business that takes ACH payments - especially recurring ones. If it's for more of a membership type program, I would think this is less appropriate. It's a great product that gets the job done. While some aspects may be a little confusing to navigate when making changes, their Customer Support really brings everything together. They are very quick to respond, so if you are left wondering how to accomplish something within the portal, you aren't left wondering for long.

Cash Fast and Simple

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our initial search for a payment processing solution led us to try PaySimple. We were looking for a solution that allowed for ease of processing client transactions as well as future integration into some of our E-commerce offerings.

Pros

  • Bank to bank transactions allows for quick and seamless transfer of funds in a secure bank encrypted ecosystem.
  • Electronic invoicing allows for rapid payment and email follow up of payment is past due.
  • Service as a product online store front where we can list services much like stores list products.
  • Customer service is top notch and they always have someone available to assist with set up, questions or support.
  • User Interface is clean, easy to navigate and integrate with existing accounting programs.

Cons

  • White label option would be a huge benefit for our needs but this is not a deterrent to adopting the platform.
  • Greater accessibility to integrate with existing platforms. For instance Shopify or WooCommerce.
  • The system is more for B2B and some more availability to also use B2C would be helpful.

Likelihood to Recommend

PaySimple is a great solution for agencies, creative enterprises, service providers, etc. Their service invoicing is easy to use and moves money very quickly to the end user.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use PaySimple to handle all our billing needs, from point of sale to recurring billing. It addresses our issue of taking down monthly payments from our membership clientele.

Pros

  • Recurring billing keeps it simple for me and my staff.
  • Point of sale. Just make products and services and it makes the checkout process simple.

Cons

  • PaySimple has a high cost for the service and transaction fees.
  • The booking service is decent. I wish they had recurring billing and if so, they'd be at 10 stars.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for my field of fitness related companies, especially membership platforms.
