Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use HYCU for on-Prem, cloud backups, and DR. The solution backs up our data and VMs to an on-Prem storage target, then copies the backup data to Azure. We’re able to restore data and spin up VMs in Azure even if our on-prem site is offline. We’re able to spin up VMs in case of DR within an hour or two.

Likelihood to Recommend

It’s well suited for Nutanix AHV data protection and includes the ability for immutable backups via WORM policy. I’m unsure of its performance in environments that use Hyper-V OR VMware for virtualization. The use of tiered backups without additional policies are great when creating new VMs, even automatically assigning a default backup policy to ensure that all workloads have at least a minimal level of data protection.

We use HYCU for both on prem VM backups as well as Azure. This also backs up Oracle, SQL & AD applications. We back up to local disk targets as well as Azure Blob & Wasabi. I have found that the simpler the backup strategy and system, the less chance of overlooking something and more apt to test regularly.

Likelihood to Recommend

For Nutanix, this product is the first choice for most customers I think. I assume for VMWare it is also strong, but don't know for sure. I like that they have a wide variety of targets for backups and excellent documentation to set it up. I have been using their product for over 5 years and expect to stay with them.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

HYCU is being used for our SQL and Application server backups across the company. The backups are crucial to having redundancy in our network and client data. We have enjoyed the support and help we receive throughout the implementation and rollout of the product. I would recommend it to others in any area or field.

Likelihood to Recommend

The SQL database structure and application-consistent snapshots to local storage and recovery are very well done. The interface is nicely made and it is an intuitive design that needs very little training to use.

The Restore from the Cloud function is cumbersome and slow, that could be improved by downloading and finding parts needed, instead of the entire backup media.
