Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize Glassdoor.com for our branding as well as reaching the possible candidates that are in a similar industry. We like to use the site to highlight our great company culture and the things that we focus on. That is why I like the "competitor" section. Where, if you have the sponsored Glassdoor.com page, you can pick up to 10 competitors pages to advertise on.

Salary estimates that are accurate
Allowing people to rate your company
Advertising and combining Indeed and Glassdoor.com into 1 sponsored account

Cons

It seems that the majority of ratings and feedback we get are non current employees
I would like to see more weight to the ratings given by current employees

The account reps are always super helpful in assisting with ideas for branding and updates we can post to keep our followers engaged. The account reps are very interactive

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

All of our open positions get posted to Glassdoor.com. Based on our Recruiting Metrics, we see a small number of applicants coming from Glassdoor.com relative to other sources (like LinkedIn for example). Glassdoor.com of course began as a place where employees rate their employers. We're a good company and generally receive positive feedback. But obviously that's something we can't control.

It really depends on if you're an employee or an employer. If you're someone who is looking to research a company you're considering joining then absolutely Glassdoor.com is an important data point research. I stress "data point" - the information posted about employers should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. Most of the negative comments are written by disgruntled employees with an axe to grind. If you're an employer, beyond keeping tabs on your reputation on Glassdoor.com, there's not much to recommend.

Glassdoor.com is mainly used to recruit for "revolving door" roles. This application keeps steady applicants coming in for those roles that never seem to fill longer than a few months. It has been an app that I keep in the background to catch any applicants I haven't obtained from another platform.

Glassdoor.com has never brought in the same selection of applicants as some of my other search engines. I tend to receive the same applicants over and over again. That is not helpful when I have already screened them and decided not to move forward with them. While they bring in the numbers, those numbers are rarely candidates I want to pursue.

Glassdoor.com has been a great resource of background information on companies that we are working with or that we may be planning on working with. It's helpful to get an "insider's" perspective of what it is like to work with and within an organization. We have found that Glassdoor.com has provided us with that window into many companies. It's a unique platform that no other outlet provides nearly as well.

Provider verified reviews from knowledgeable sources
Organizes relevant information to companies within their industry
Delivers easy to understand insights and reliable information
Has been the only resource to consistently provide these insights and follow companies over long periods of time.

Cons

Possibly pull in additional information from external sources for wider analysis
Implement an aggregated industry index and real-time reviews of the omnichannel operations of the companies it is providing reviews of
Deploy a real-time LLM that can respond to inquiries based on the years of data collection
Offer information on other companies based on inquiries to expand on relevant reviews and resourcing.

Likelihood to Recommend

I would definitely recommend Glassdoor.com to colleagues who are looking to get insights into the inner workings of an organization by the people who know it best - its employees. The variation of reviews of employees at all levels within an organization. The benefit to this is that it delivers a well-rounded perspective that provides deeper understanding of a company and the ways that they are perceived externally and how they operate in actual terms of acting as a reliable establishment to work for or work with.

We also use Glassdoor to benchmark against our competitors to see where we are versus where they are. We ensure to keep our profile up to date always adding new content. We also run employer branding ads here to build brand awareness against key talent and key markets.

Glassdoor is used by the HR department in order to understand the employee sentiment and get honest feedback about the organization culture, leadership and benefits. It helps us understand our company's brand perception and also what needs to be done in order to improve it to next level. We also use Glassdoor as an alternative platform for posting new job opportunities.

Pros

It's like a mirror to organizations to how its culture, leadership, practices, and processes are perceived by previous and existing employees.
It provides key insights about our company, culture, the average salary for each role, and the interview process to the prospective candidates which helps them understand what to expect.
Sponsored campaigns can be run to hire candidates especially when hiring is to be done in less time as people browsing on the Glassdoor platform are the ones actively looking for a change.

Cons

Glassdoor is an expensive product and price needs to be lower for employers.
They have to find a way to stop companies from rigging their ratings by asking their employees to post positive reviews.
Also, somehow they need to figure out if the negative review is an attempt to show their frustration by an employee rather than the true picture of the organization.

Likelihood to Recommend

Glassdoor is well suited if an organization is looking to quickly reach out to the candidates actively looking for a job as most of the visitors on the site are active job seekers. So it can help reduce the total hiring time which can translate into a lot of monetary savings. It's not well suited for smaller companies as the pricing is too high and without a lot of reviews, ratings are not justified.

Glassdoor is a very good tool to find talent for organization and to look for opportunities as an independent professional. It has some interesting tools and their algorithm is very advanced as their personalized e mails with job opportunities you may be missing always hits the point in terms of my interests and the professional skills I want to develop.

As for the company, we have a lot of applicants when we publish jobs on Glassdoor and HR is the area that uses it the most inside the organization.

Pros

Lots of job posting and opportunities.
You get approximated salaries for each available position.
Highlights which skills are needed for each position.

Cons

Annoying e mail notifications, 3 or 4 per day.
Bad location targeting. Sometimes I get job offers from other countries.
Mobile app not very user friendly.

Likelihood to Recommend

Glassdoor is useful as a job portal, specifically for more junior entry positions and as you move forward on your career other services may be more useful. Some of the postings you will see on Glassdoor are specific to the site but most are duplicated from LinkedIn and other job portal.

We use [Glassdoor.com] to search for job candidates and also to post open positions we have available. It makes the process more streamlined because we can inform people about our organization, collect reviews that help people understand what we're about, and post jobs that reach a wide variety of candidates. We appreciate people being able to learn about our company before they decide to apply for a job with us.

Pros

Glassdoor is great at providing candidates with information about our company they wouldn't find elsewhere.
Glassdoor's website is organized well and has an easy-to-use interface both for job seekers and posters.
Glassdoor has excellent crowdsourcing functionality when it comes to company ratings and salary information.

Cons

The "jobs you may like" section algorithm could use some work - it often shows jobs that are not relevant to the user.
It is not very easy to search company reviews based on certain criteria, like EDI.
The mobile app is sometimes buggy and slow on Android phones.

Likelihood to Recommend

[Glassdoor.com] is well suited for larger, older organizations who have had time to build up a reputation in the market and have lots of employees come and go. This means that job seekers will have a lot more data to peruse when it comes to company reviews, interviews, salaries, etc. simply because there is a larger pool of people to provide such information. If you are a small or new organization, [Glassdoor.com] might not be helpful for candidates trying to learn more about your company.

We use Glassdoor.com to own the reputation of our clients and to sponsor jobs through PPC when necessary. We also have a review response strategy and try to respond to each review. Glassdoor also shows us to advertise on some competitor sites and to programmatically serve display ads to our audience.

Pros

Owning your company profile and reputation.
Programmatic display advertising.

Cons

Company updates seem to provide little value.
Tracking is constantly an issue.

Likelihood to Recommend

You need to have a healthy budget for employer brand and marketing as profile ownership cost has gone up significantly in the past few years. Would not recommend for smaller businesses as it most likely wouldn’t be cost-effective. PPC is useful, but the campaign setup isn’t as smart as competitors’ offerings. If you need constant optimization, it may be best to use another technology to manage campaigns.
