We use a paid version of GitHub, because we work through private repositories, but the increase in productivity, efficiency, and research progress is definitely worth the price. … Because GitHub is free, GitHub is a great choice when money is tight (but again, the free version of GitHub only allows the creation of public repositories).

Companies that have specific requirements around compliance will need to upgrade to the enterprise version, which may be an expensive investment for minimal value. … The ROI is mostly flat; however, with the introductions of Packages, Actions, and Co-Pilot, we are seeing increased value as we are able to consolidate tooling and services.

The new pricing would be too expensive for us, so we haven't switched. … If someone is planning on creating a lot of private repos, Bitbucket is less expensive.

GitHub has a free plan for open-source projects, while Bitbucket charges a fee for private repositories. … Fast code development Cheap and you can also have the free version for smaller companies Easy to administrate, for example when you have people working remotely on different countries.

Now that GitHub and Gitlab are on the scene with more free private options and equivalent pricing and often better build pipeline pricing, I don't think Bitbucket is the best option...

It is not free if you want to save your code as private, it could be a good solution depending on the size of your team and your budget. … Maybe they could offer some private projects for free, but I understand that this feature is paid.
