In our organization, We have Db2 LUW on AIX and Windows. Our footprint is very small - but only as data warehousing at this time. We are currently working toward migrating data from Netezza into our Db2 environment.

Cons

  • better options for monitoring (waston.x tools we saw this week look hopeful)

We have used Db2 for a long time. I've only been on the team for a short time but there have been no complaints. We use it for the backend for all our applications. We've been very happy with it.

Db2 is our backbone to our IT Infrastructure as we have all our Corporate and Client data in Db2 on Mainframe. Db2 perfectly address the business problems of need of keeping data available 24X7, in a secure way, be self resilient and wonderful Business value insights from Large data pool. Scope of our Use case is to make use of Db2 for specific Business purposes as Relational Database Management System

  • Resilience - Db2 for z/OS 13 has capacity to be self resilient. Example in case if abends and it is brought up it has capability to resolve the issue which caused the abend in certain cases
  • Security - Db2 for z/OS 13 has updated features like profile etc to meet Security Baselines
  • Business Insights - Db2 supports many means of getting valuable Business insights from the huge- data
