We used Audiense when we had big social media accounts on Twitter and we wanted to analyze how their audience was composed. The kind of followers, their main insights, and the brands they were more interested in. It was a good start to separate the audience into very specific or clear groups, so you could start creating hypotheses about how you could segment the audience for future strategies.

Pros

Segment kind of users inside an audience.
Find out the main characteristics between these audiences.
A good starting point to create an strategy that needs custom segmentation.

Cons

To include more social networks that could help Twitter data.
An easy way tool from start to segment audiences that share similar characteristics to get a deep-dive.
Easy to use export reports or an API integration for a Data visualization tool.

When you start a strategy and want to discover how the audiense is composed, this is the first step to start exploring and then create your buyer personas with more details from other auxiliary tools (social listening, market research). Audiense is the best way to start exploring. It works better when you are dealing with big social media accounts when you want to explore audiences from a specific country or very specific interests. It’s good to import information from listening tools like Brandwatch to get better results about your audience.

We are an agency so use this tool alongside other research tools to provide digital insights that our clients can use to increase the effectiveness of their marketing strategies. This has allowed us to uncover valuable insights around potential and target audiences or uncover niche audiences that our clients weren't aware of.

This is a great tool for any business in my opinion. I have used this

for commercial clients (B2B) as well as Non-profts but I feel this could

be for a range of businesses as the insights are so vast. I have used

this to find niche audiences for clients in order for them to target

messaging to specific audiences which are more likely to engage with the

organization. I have also used this for competitor analysis for

smaller/newer brands that need some insight as a place to start by

looking at their competitors in order to start building their own

audience.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Audiense is a great tool to get valuable information about our subscribers. It allows us to accurately monitor the effectiveness of our accounts on key targets such as opinion leaders and journalists. The tool also allows us to explore the subscribers base of other accounts to detect new communication opportunities.

Audiense is great (and to my knowledge is the only tool available for most users) to effectively track and study follower bases. However, it lacks capacities for someone wanting to do big-number research/analysis. It is best suited to reasonably sized audiences, up to a few tens of thousands of subscribers

We use Audiense to identify optimal times to post and build our target audiences for clients on Twitter. We have a wide variety of clients and need a product like this that delivers insight and robust data that we can pass on to our clients within each sector we are operating in.

The system works brilliantly for Twitter; however, for some use cases, we are limited if the client isn't using Twitter right now and their target Audience is on Instagram or Facebook, for example. We get great insight, and it's a limitation of the networks rather than Audiense, so we completely understand.

We have a varied and sometimes, erratic Twitter audience and we needed to be able to get a proper perspective on its value.

Audiense has enabled us to clean out both poor followers, and pointless follows and keep our Twitter audience current. The tools are easy to use and effective. As a company who values our social interactions, and engages with the folk who wish to get involved in racehorse ownership, we have seen revenue come directly as result of using Audiense.

We attract a lot of the wrong type of followers. Followers which have zero value in regards of useful information, interaction, contacts or tweets. We use Audiense to decipher which is which and to remove the bad ones.

I have been able to use Audiense to grow Twitter followership for around a dozen different business accounts. It has proven to be very effective at identifying target audiences in commercial and B2B markets.

Pros

Segments users based on many variables.
Identifies top users based on engagement and use frequency.
Makes user targeting simple with advanced search and filters.

Cons

It's unfortunate that Audiense only works with Twitter.
A bulk unfollow feature would be nice.
Aggregating users by keywords and hashtags in tweets would be helpful.

I use Audiense as part of my social media listening and analysis service. I create communities in Audiense via my social listening provider and then cluster these audiences by affinity. This data is invaluable when I am writing social or audience strategies for my clients. For me, the integration with Pulsar Platform makes a huge difference to my offering. Being able to understand the real audience who has talked about your search in this level of detail, as opposed to the traditional 'personas' really elevates the strategies I am able to create.

I either use Audiense alone as a starting point for my strategy, helping me to understand competitor audiences and their makeup, or later on during the process of a more in-depth social listening project. I think Audiense is incredibly helpful if you have no social listening experience and want to understand more about your target audience. It can also be a useful influencer identification tool, particularly with all the filters in your influencer report. Being able to select the size of the influencer audience, and analyze the data for influencers on specific platforms or with specific interests is really really helpful.

I use it to monitor social engagement for the company's pages and profiles and to monitor our audiences, their interests, and the topics they are more likely to want to discuss. I also use it to discover new users. This function and the relative filters are particularly useful and allow me to accomplish this task quickly and effectively. Another thing I appreciate is the possibility of monitoring Twitter unfollows and inactive users, so I can keep our community fresh and engaged.

Likelihood to Recommend

Audiense is especially suited for companies that have niche interests and want to get to their specific audience. It is, however, important to know your audience to begin with, so you can target your search on appropriate keywords. It is probably less competitive where broad swaths of interests are involved, like Twitter, for instance, does that pretty well on its own platform. This doesn't mean that Audiense wouldn't help, just that it would be less of a motivating factor for potential users.

We use both the Connect and Insights parts of Audiense. We use Connect for listening, community insights, and community building. We use Insights to inform content and campaign strategies as well as to identify influential people and entities. Both sides allow us to provide our clients with comprehensive analysis and insights, differentiating us from others as a social media service provider in the process.

We have been a client for over a decade. The Audiense team has been collaborative and supportive in so many ways and with so many clients, going well above the call of duty. They have involved us in a case study and contributed to our book coming out in March. Audiense is one of our most valued relationships. Twitter has not remained competitive with other social media platforms, especially Instagram and TikTok. I can appreciate that Twitter being such an open platform means a tremendous amount of data and insights can be derived to provide value but I trust that Audiense will continue to evolve its solutions to augment the value it can offer to agencies and clients.
